Capital Region’s Newest Sports Franchise to Play All Home Games in Downtown Schenectady at Armory Studios NY
SCHENECTADY, NY (February 28, 2025) – The New York Phoenix basketball team is officially set to make its highly anticipated debut this weekend with back-to-back home games. Schenectady County was proud to be selected as the new home for The Basketball League’s (TBL) New York Phoenix who will play all of their regular-season home games, along with post-season games, at Armory Studios NY.
The Phoenix will take the court for the first time against the Connecticut Crusaders tonight (Friday, February 28), followed by a matchup against the Halifax Hoopers tomorrow (Saturday, March 1). Doors open at 6 p.m. with tipoff at 7 p.m. for both games.
Tickets for this weekend’s games, individual games, season passes, and limited courtside seating are available at nyphoenixbasketball.com/tickets. To honor this historic opening weekend the team is offering special discounted tickets for both games while supplies last! Free parking, including ADA-accessible parking, is available for all Phoenix games. Other amenities include elevated VIP seating in The Zone, along with snacks, soft drinks, beer wine, and cocktails in the Mess Hall.

The team is being led by Head Coach and General Manager Trevis Wyche, a TBL All-Star and former Albany Patroons point guard, who guided his team to a National Championship. The talent filled player roster includes TBL all-stars along and exciting newcomers.

The New York Phoenix is owned by Phoenix Sports Management, bringing together a seasoned leadership team with deep TBL experience, including former co-owners of the Albany Patroons who led the team to back-to-back Eastern Conference Championships in 2023 and 2024. CEO Rebecca Clifford, the Capital Region’s only pro sports team woman owner, is joined by Chief Strategy Officer Sam Clifford and Gameday Operations Lead Paulie “Walnutz” Marquardt.
All Phoenix home games will take place at Armory Studios NY in Studio A, a 30,000-square-foot facility with a newly installed basketball court, seating for 2,000 spectators, and over 125 courtside seats for an immersive fan experience. The venue’s 90,000-square-foot layout allows for a variety of sports and entertainment events, including basketball tournaments, volleyball, pickleball, and soccer. The space also continues to serve as a host for major film and television productions, as well as large-scale exhibitions.
